School is out for the summer and lots of people will be heading to the lake to take in the summer heat.

Boating and swimming are a fun way to beat the heat, however, one of the major dangers is drowning.
Alison Frechlich, public affairs assistant with the Canadian Red Cross, says swimming lessons are a great tool to help you with water safety.

As well if your going to be boating, you are to get your Pleasure Craft Operator card so it shows you know how to operate a water vehicle safely, and Frechlich says first aid is always an important tool to have.

Males between the ages of 15 and 74 and children between the ages of one and four are most at risk for drowning.
