The Take a Break Campaign, which was launched by the Government of Saskatchewan in December, encourages people to take a break from social media.

Just last week, Premier Scott Moe promoted the campaign on his Twitter account.

"Premier Moe has shot a video for us and he's encouraging people to Take a Break,” Weyburn-Big Muddy MLA and Education Minister Dustin Duncan said. “We also have signed Cody Fajardo, the starting quarterback for the Saskatchewan Roughriders to be a part of the campaign and Cody has been so great to work with and was so excited to be a part of the campaign when we first contacted the Roughriders to be a part of it."

Duncan said that there are a lot of positive benefits to having access to technology, but there is a downside as well.

“Whether it's bullying, or other negative aspects of mental health that can occur because of the use of social media, misinformation, and those sorts of things."

He added that the pandemic had a negative impact on mental well-being, as it has been a stressful time for everyone. One of the top priorities of the provincial government right now is focusing on the mental health of students.
