One person in Weyburn has been charged under the alcohol and gaming regulation act for unlawfully having alcohol in a vehicle.

Deputy Police Chief Brent VanDeSype said that if you are transporting alcohol, it must be unopened, and you must be of drinking age.

“Obviously, the legal age in Saskatchewan for alcohol is 19 years of age, and I mean it's to be closed and it's to be transported from, you know, point A to point B.”

He also encourages people to keep alcohol out of sight when transporting it.

“Obviously if it's on the seat, it's accessible, it doesn't look good, and it's also open to view for everyone else.”

13 charges were laid overall last week in Weyburn.
