Another successful FCC Drive Away Hunger event here in Weyburn Thursday. Schools and businesses contributed over 6,000 pounds of food, and another $1,800 in funds to be used by the Salvation Army Food Bank.

Jennifer Lorinczy is the Community Ministries Co-ordinator for the Salvation Army in Weyburn. She said that the work of volunteers helped make the day.

"Its been a huge success, and just a big thank you to FCC, all our volunteers," Lorinczy said Thursday. She added that the food collected will help, especially with winter about to set in. "Our shelves were empty before, pretty empty, so now they are overflowing, so it will get us through the Christmas rush for sure."

Lorinczy said that the response from the community was overwhelming for this year's event.
