This summer, visitors of the Signal Hill Arts Centre Second Floor Gallery have had the chance to view a stunning show by metal artist Jaren Bell aptly titled Flowers.
Jaren Bell is known in Weyburn for her vibrant metal work, both artistic and practical. Jaren's art never fails to impress. It's incredible how she takes a sheet of metal and turns it into an ethereal work of art. For this show, Jaren has shown us her interpretation of 17 flowers.
The subject matter of this show only enhances the contrast between what we see/feel and the materials/techniques used. Contrasting ideas come to mind... Man made, solid, sharp, rasping, grinding metal versus flowing, natural, gentle, soft, delicate. Instead of creating disparity, the duality balances to form harmony.
Instead of creating conflict, the duality/disparity furthers our feeling of harmony.
