The Grace United Church in Weyburn is set to launch their first ever community theatre production - Annie - this weekend with three live shows across December 7, 8 and 9 all at 7:00pm at the Grace United Church.

"We have church people from our congregation but we also have a lot of community people," says Colleen Weimer, who shares the director role with her daughter, Kendra Gonczy, "We have adults and children ranging from all ages in our cast, so this is a little step into some community theatre."

To match the level of work put into the on-stage performance, the church itself will be transformed into a full functioning theatre. Weimer chuckled, "We are sort of turning our church into a stage area. Its really a great venue, we have such good acoustics in there, and we're bringing in lighting and things like that."

Colleen also mentioned that she likes to work fast and furious, as they have planned and mastered the show in a very short amount of time. "We've been working for a couple months on it. We worked everything seperately and now we're putting it all together and its looking great, we're really excited about it."

Weimer is very enthusiastic and eager for this weekend's performances, adding, "We would love people to come and see it, I think you're going to see cast members and chorus members on the stage that you wouldn't expect. The kids are doing a fantastic job, and we've got a pit band that we're using, too. So altogether I think its going to be a really good family show as well as a little bit of a Christmas show."

Tickets are available at the Grace United Church and at the door, while seating is still available.
