Every year the CP Holiday Train travels across Canada and the US treating select towns and cities to free shows while raising funds and awareness for local food banks.

This year, Weyburn will once again be on their agenda.

"It's coming through on Sunday, December 16th," said Community Ministries Co-ordinator for the Salvation Army Jennifer Lorinczy.

The annual show starts with the train, which is decorated in Christmas lights, rolling into town at approximately 5:45. After a few minutes, the train opens up and Weyburn residents will be treated to a free show.

"This year for entertainment we have the Trews and Willy Porter," said Lorinczy. "You know it's going to be a good show. The Trews have released a statement and they are super excited to be a part of the Holiday Train. I think it's going to be just a great time for everybody."

Weyburn will be the final stop for the US Train and the Trews who said on Facebook "We’re excited to announce that we’ll be taking part in this years Canadian Pacific Holiday Train ! Our portion of the trip takes us mostly through the U.S. Midwest - for a full schedule visit www.cpr.ca/holiday-train . This will be our first time touring by train, which is something we’ve always wanted to do, and to do so while being able to raise some money and put food on local shelves at this most important time of year makes it all the more special. We can’t wait!"

NEITHER CAN WE!!!!!

"It's 100% free to come and enjoy," said Lorinczy. "It really just puts you in the Christmas spirit, the lights on the train, they are wonderful and everyone goes through a lot of work to pull this off. They have been doing it for years, they raise tons of money and all the money that is raised at the Weyburn Holiday Train stays right in Weyburn."

Those coming out are encouraged to bring a donation to the Food Bank and, of course, dress warm!
