The Saskatchewan government announced they were providing $340,000 in funding for facility upgrades for the Canadian Mental Health Association in the province. Three branch offices in the province are receiving a one-time payment from the Saskatchewan Health Authority, including the branch here in Weyburn.

“We are putting that money towards updating our kitchen and our bathrooms in our basement,” said Tasha Collins with the Weyburn branch of the CMHA, describing what the $40,000 they are receiving will go towards.

The news comes during Mental Health Awareness Week, and just days after the CMHA Weyburn branch received a $4,500 donation from the staff at Weyburn Credit Union.

“Those funds will go directly into the upgrades and we hope to be providing our community with an updated branch,” Collins added.

The other centres receiving funding from the provincial government were in Prince Albert and Swift Current. The Swift Current branch received $200,000 to go towards a new facility in that community, while $100,000 in Prince Albert will be going to renovations and equipment purchases.
