A new Nurse Practitioner (NP) has joined the Rural West Primary Health team that serves Radville, Bengough, Pangman and surrounding areas for Sun Country Health Region.

Newly certified as an NP, Sarah Nicol and her fiance have moved from Ontario to Bengough. She was attracted by the opportunity to work in a small town location, and to work with the Rural West team.

“We’re excited to have her with us,” says Wanda Miller, Regional Director, Primary Health Care for Sun Country Health Region. “Rural West has been without an NP for some time and Sarah will be a great addition to the Rural West team.”

Rural West is an interdisciplinary health care team consisting of clients, doctors, nurse practitioner, office staff, dietitian, facility managers, pharmacists, home care staff, EMS, mental health, therapy services, laboratory, and health centre staff.

Nurse Practitioners provide comprehensive health care services. They can diagnose your illness, order tests and prescribe most medications. They can perform a variety of complex procedures and refer to other health care providers or specialists, when required. Nurse Practitioners focus on health promotion to help residents take control of their health and to prevent illness and injury.

Sarah is located in Bengough. She will work Monday and Tuesday in Bengough, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Wednesday and Thursday in Radville from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Clients can call 306-268-2840 in Bengough or 306- 869-3111 to make an appointment.
