Training camp and the preseason are over for the Weyburn Red Wings, but they are still tweaking the roster ahead of Friday’s regular season opener against the Yorkton Terriers.

Monday, the Red Wings added a player to the roster. They acquired Matthew Jones from the Lloydminster Bobcats in exchange for a player development fee. Originally from Dinsmore, Saskatchewan, Jones played in 43 games last season, recording eight points He played his midget hockey with the Swift Current Legionnaires, where he had 51 points in 90 games over three seasons.

Fans will get their first chance to meet the 2017-18 Red Wings Tuesday evening. The team will once again take over the parking lot of Canadian Tire for some street hockey and pizza with the fans, starting at 5:00 p.m.

The Red Wings will be opening their regular season at home Friday night when they host the Terriers. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on Red Wing Radio, K106.
