The second annual BigTime Dinner and Social raised more than $70,000 on Saturday, which helps support the Yellow Grass Communiplex.

Rink board member Rylee Richards said the community support this year in Yellow Grass has been unbelievable.

"The minor hockey, senior team, judo has just been a new life in the rink and new life in town," he said. "It's been great."

The annual event is also a time to commemorate a local sports hero, and this year three time Canadian rodeo champion and eight time world final qualifier Aaron Roy was recognized.

The community will be putting up a sign alongside Highway 39 as you approach Yellow Grass, which honours Roy and his hometown of Yellow Grass.

Richards said the money raised this year will go to a new gym, the judo and minor hockey teams as well as rink repairs including upgrades to the ice plant.
