Regional Kids First work with communities in Southeast Saskatchewan to promote early childhood development through various programs and events.

"So one of the programs we have is our Impact Early Childhood Fairs," explained Madeleine Valentine, Regional Kids First Liaison for the South East Cornerstone Public School Division. "These events are for children born in 2016 and their families. It's an annual event targeted at children turning four in the current year. We'll have about twelve different interactive stations set up at these events. Parents and children can rotate through in what ever order they wish. And children get to go home with something, whether it be a book or some crayons, that sort of thing. We have several of these Impact Early Childhood Fairs happening in the area this year."

These free events are held at local elementary schools, from 4:30 - 6:30 PM, unless otherwise noted:

Feb 11th in Ogema, Feb 12th in Midale, Feb 13th in Oungre (2:00 - 3:00 PM), Feb 26th in Pangman, March 3rd in Stoughton (Stoughton Central School), March 5th in Yellow Grass (Yellow Grass High School), March 11th in Fillmore (33 Central School), March 24th in Radville (St. Olivier School), March 26th in Weyburn (at Cugnet Centre).

"We also have some playgroups happening," added Valentine. "So we do have a monthly group happening in Ogema on the first Monday of every month. They are free and open to anyone with young children. preschoolers, toddlers, babies, they're open to all."

These playgroups run from 10 AM till noon at the Ogema Public Library.

Upcoming playgroups: Feb 3rd, March 2nd, April 6th, May 4th & June 1st.

"Another event we offer is our Pop Up Playgroups for three and four-year-olds," Valentine told. "These are happening in at the Lyndale School in Oungre. We'll be doing lots of crafts and activities with recycled materials at these events."

These events will feature STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) activities facilitated by their Early Learning Consultants / Liaisons.
