A vehicle being broken into last Thursday resulted in charges for one person.

The Weyburn Police Service reported the incident took place at a local dealership. A vehicle that was parked on the lot was damaged during the incident, and some of the items in it were taken.

“Through subsequent investigation, the suspect was identified,” explained Corporal Ryan Cherniawsky. “Several other reports of vehicles being broken into were reported in the city, some of which were linked.”

The officers were able to obtain and execute a search warrant at a residence in Weyburn, and some of the stolen items were located.

“As a result, an adult male was arrested and charged with four counts of possessing stolen property, and one charge of failing to comply with the condition of their release,” Cherniawsky added.

The incident is still under investigation, and further charges could be brought forward at a later time.
