The Weyburn Sonics have wrapped up their season final in 2nd place after falling to the Estevan Coyotes 5-1 on Monday.

The Sonics are a women’s soccer team who play out of Estevan against three Estevan teams.

“We originally started with a smaller group of ladies that actually joined up with one of the Estevan teams back in 2013, before becoming our own team in 2014,” said Melissa Lebersback, organizer and manager of the Weyburn Sonics. “The rec league has actually been around in Estevan for several years and it's all just ladies there.”

Lebersback said overall, the season went well for the Sonics with 10 wins, five losses, and one tie.

“Unfortunately, we did have quite a few cancellations with the weather as well as one of the teams struggled to get players so they had quite a few forfeited games.”

Anyone who is interested in joining the team can follow them on Facebook for more information.
