The Weyburn Fire Department is currently on the scene of a grass fire at the edge of the city.

Crews are trying to contain the fire to prevent it from spreading into the Riverwood neighbourhood, which is directly east of the fire. Crews are both attacking the fire, while also taking preventative measures to prevent embers and sparks from the fire, driven by the wind, from igniting beyond the perimeter they have established.

Weyburn Police are also on the scene of the fire, assisting with traffic control. Until the fire is out, they are asking residents to avoid Saskatchewan Drive unless you are a resident of the Riverwood neighbourhood returning home.

We will provide updates as the information becomes available.
