The average weekly earnings in Saskatchewan were up in November according to the latest numbers from Statistics Canada, one of just two provinces to see an increase from October. The average weekly earnings across all sectors, including overtime, was $1,057.74, up by $44.87 from October. The other province which saw an increase was Nova Scotia, where the average weekly earnings increased by just $2.37

The average weekly wage in November was the fourth highest in the country as well, behind only Alberta, Ontario and Newfoundland. 

The mining, quarrying and oil and gas extraction sectors continued to lead the way for Saskatchewan. The average weekly earnings there were $2,186.74, up by over $100 from the previous month. The lowest wages were in the accommodation and food services sector, where the average weekly earnings in the province were $400.61.

The arts, entertainment and recreation sector had the highest percentage increase, as average weekly earnings were up by 12.33 percent to $630.43. The biggest decline came in real estate and rental and leasing, as weekly earnings there fell by 5.97 percent to $997.91.

The payroll earnings survey is released by Statistics Canada each month. It provides a snapshot of the amount of earnings in the country at the national and provincial levels.
