Warm, dry weather has helped crops in southeast Saskatchewan ripen more rapidly this past week, according to the latest crop report.

Producers in the region have been getting into their fields to combine or swath as the weather made for good harvesting conditions. Harvest progress sits at six percent, which is well behind the five-year average of 20 percent.

Crops are looking very good where adequate rainfall was received, and producers are happy with their estimated yields. Very little rain fell in the region this past week, but the Moosomin area received 18 millimetres.

13 percent of the winter wheat, 36 percent of the field peas, 24 percent of the lentils, 14 percent of the barley, and five percent of the oats have been combined so far. Harvest will progress quickly for producers when crops are fully mature as long as the weather stays favourable.

Most crop damage last week was due to grasshoppers and flea beetles.

Pasture conditions are rated as eleven percent excellent, 62 percent good, 22 percent fair, three percent poor and two percent very poor.
