With the SJHL draft set for tomorrow, the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings have made their first roster move to bring in some more experience to their forwards. The Red Wings have traded 2001 born defenceman Daytona Houle to the MJHL's Waywayseecappo Wolverines for 2000 born centreman Noah Westgate.

The Red Wings are adding a forward who has two year's experience in the AJHL split between the Spruce Grove Saints and the Bonnyville Pontiacs which he played less than 10 games with between his 17 and 18-year old years, but still as an 18-year-old, Westgate put up 6 points in 45 games with the Olds Grizzlies.

Westgate found his touch in his last season in the MJHL. He played 49 games with the Wolverines and scored a respectable 20 points in 49 games, all while staying out of the box with just 28 PIMS on the year.

As for Houle, the 01 defenceman was a little slow out of the gate for the Red Wings last season but started to show his talents as a smooth skating, shut down defenceman with a solid body and a great ability to lead a power play near the month of December. Out of the Calling Lake, Alberta native's four goals last year, all four of them were scored on the powerplay, three of which came against the Estevan Bruins.

To fill the gap that Houle leaves on the blueline, the Red Wings have also picked up another 2001 born defenceman Nolan Cunningham. Although Red Wings fans might have mixed feelings about cheering for the name 'Cunningham', there may some excitement about the 19 year old coming into the season. Last year with Kent Hills School in the United States Prep School system, the Great Falls, Montana native wore an 'A' on his sweater and put 10 points on the board from the blue line including two goals.
