The Weyburn Red Wings are in a must win situation if they want to extend their season. They face the Melfort Mustangs at Crescent Point Place tonight in game four of their SJHL quarterfinal series. The Mustangs have a three game to none lead.

In the three games so far, the Wings have been outscored 16-4 as they have tried to stop a high octane, fast paced offense from Melfort. Weyburn has proven that they can skate with the Mustangs, and compete, but Melfort has capitalized on small mistakes to score, and when they do, it is also in bunches. Weyburn will be looking to their leaders to take control tonight on home ice in front of what is expected to be the biggest crowd of the season. Captain Josh Lees has notched four goals so far this post season, and linemate Brendan McKay has continued his strong performance from the regular season. Unfortunately for Weyburn, that hasn't resulted in goals on the board.

The Mustangs have relied heavily on a line consisting of Tristan Frei, Justin Boyer and SJHL Player of the Year Travis Mayan to generate a lot of their offense. The three are all smaller in stature, but quick, and seem to possess an uncanny puck-sense that has allowed them to make tight crisp passes to catch goaltenders out of position for a number of goals. They have also capitalized on power play opportunities.

For the Wings, discipline will be key tonight. Weyburn took 88 minutes in penalties in game three, and have given up on average seven power plays a game. Melfort has capitalized on that. The Red Wings will also be missing a sparkplug on the ice as well tonight, as Alex Bechtold will be sitting for a game as a result of a five minute major and game misconduct he received for high sticking near the end of game three.

Tonight's game will start at 7:30 p.m. at Crescent Point Place. You can catch all the play by play, beginning with the pre-game show, on Red Wing Radio AM1190, at 7:20 p.m.
