The Weyburn Police Service has released a few more details regarding the home invasion which took place Sunday morning.

“As far as we know at this point in the investigation, it was very much a targeted thing; it is not a random act so there should be no overall public safety concern or concern for anybody in the neighbourhood,” explained Acting Police Chief Rod Stafford.

Stafford added that while the investigation is still underway, and more information which came to light in the past two days, they are very much of the belief the incident was connected in some fashion to drugs.

Given the descriptions provided to police by the victim, it is known the two suspects entered into the house wearing dark clothing. Given the time of day in the very early morning, and a lack of information of whether or not they drove or walked to the home, Stafford said there are still a number of questions to be answered.

“If anybody did see anything at all, it was probably just one or two people in dark clothing and probably dismissed it, unless now they’re thinking that it might have been that,” Stafford added.

It is believed the suspects may have had a firearm, but it can’t be confirmed at this time. Police are proceeding, though, as though it was a firearm.
