Close but no cigar. The Toronto Blue Jays erased a 4-1, ninth inning deficit yesterday in Oakland, only to lose the game in the bottom half of the innings.

Cliff Pennington hit a walk off single for the A's as Oakland edged the Jays 5-4.

Toronto scored three times in the top of the ninth, including a two run single by Fred Lewis, to tie the game but Jays pitcher Casey Janssen could not shut the door on the A's.

Lewis drove in three of the four Toronto runs. The Jays are six games over the .500 mark and will have the day off today.

Toronto opens up a three game weekend series at Fenway Park in Boston tomorrow. Pregame show tomorrow is at 5:00 on your voice of the Blue Jays AM 1190.
