Yesterday the U18 Richardson Pioneer AAA Gold Wings hit the ice in their first, exhibition game of the season after delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They hit the ice against the visiting Regina Rebels at Crescent Point Place, however, the stands were not nearly as full as in past seasons due to limitations put in place by the SHA and health authorities.

The Rebels made a strong introduction against the Gold Wings, scoring two goals in the first period against Phoenix Preston-Winder. They ended the period with a 2-0 lead over the defending Gold Wings.

The Gold Wings attempted to catch up to the Rebels lead with a single goal in the second period, courtesy of Dakota Bowler. However, the Rebels maintained their lead with a goal of their own, ending the period with a 3-1 lead.

Unfortunately for the Wings, the Rebels continued to establish their lead with two more goals against Phoenix Preston-Winder in the third period, wrapping the game up with a 5-1 loss to the Rebels.
