There's less than two weeks until the Weyburn and District United Way celebrate their BIGGEST fundraiser of the year; Communithon.

The schedule for the day was recently released and families are preparing to not only enjoy the music of their children, but donate to 13 member agencies. Including the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB).

CNIB is an agency that aids those with visual impairments.

In previous years, they have been quoted saying "We passionately provide community-based support for individuals who are blind or partially sighted so that they may live an independent life just like you or I. We also provide assistive technologies. So, if someone's interested in learning how to use the latest technology like voice-over on their computer or zoom-text, a program that expands things on their screen, or even new apps that are out there for the use of iPads, which really provides multi-functional tools for our clients who are blind or partially sighted."

They also visit clients in their home to aid in independent living and have noted that Communithon is one of the biggest fundraisers that CNIB has in a year.

"That money goes directly to provide programs and services to individuals in the area. So, it would go to vision services, independent living skills, orientation-mobility services and the technology supports."

Communithon runs October 19th at the Cugnet Centre.
