All of Weyburn tomorrow night will be teeming with ghosts, ghouls, disney characters and ravenous beasts seeking candy, as Halloween happens on a Saturday, during full moon.

When it comes to safe trick-or-treating, Chief of Police with the Weyburn Police Service, Jamie Blunden, said it's most important to see and be seen.

"Make sure that you're dressing in some sort of bright, reflective clothing," he advised, noting some stores sell reflective strips you can add to your clothing if it's not adequately visible. "If you don't, then certainly have some sort of bright clothing with you. Be able to see through your eyes, and make sure that the masks aren't covering your vision of sight."

Blunden reminds parents of those young enough not to know better to ensure they're supervised to keep them out of danger.

"Making sure they're safe and not darting across the road," he reminded. "Make sure you cross at the crosswalks to make it safe."

He said he understands it's exciting, even for older kids.

"Running across the road when you see a friend or something like that. Let's just pay due diligence with it," he cautioned.

Blunden also reminds drivers to be extra diligent in pedestrian defense.

"It's Halloween night, so let's slow down, let's be visual, and make sure that we're looking for anybody in and around the streets, and slow down for the conditions, and I hope everybody's safe that night."

Homeowners, he reminds, should brighten things up on the street, for the trick-or-treaters, the homeowners, and even the drivers, by simply turning on their porch lights.

The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce, partnering with Weyburn Tourism and the Weyburn Police Service, will be hosting a COVID-friendly Halloween experience tomorrow at the City Centre Mall between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. The tickets have all been reserved.
