The word blowout is just one that could be used to describe the outcome of Wednesday night’s game between the 18U AA Weyburn Beavers and the visiting White Butte Broncos. Weyburn would see their lineup go a collective .516 at the plate in the game as they went on to a 22-0 win in five innings.

At the plate, the Beaves were led by Ryker Watt and Dallen Oxelgren. The duo were both 3-for-5 at the plate, driving in four runs each. Also driving in runs in the rout were Karston Geiger and Sam Mallory with three each, Ben Manning and Vlad Szczecinski with two each, and Noah Kopec with one RBI on the day.

Stolen bases have become synonymous with 18U baseball in Weyburn, and that continued Wednesday night as the team combined for eight stolen bases in just five innings. Oxelgren had four stolen pillows, Kopec three and Manning one.

Wyatt Godlonton had the start on the mound for the Beavers and went the distance. He threw 51 pitches over five innings, striking out five and allowing two hits.

The Beavers have now won nine games in a row, and are 10-1 on the season. They have outscored their opponents 137 to 28 so far this year. The baserunning, as mentioned earlier, has been strong as well, with the team averaging more than four stolen bases per game.

The Beavers will be looking to keep their winning streak alive next Wednesday when they host the Regina Pacers at Tom Laing Park.
