Today is a big one for the Weyburn Salvation Army!

They are moving to their new building! It's a move that has been years in the making. The building was originally purchased two and a half years ago and was renovated over the summer.

The big move started last week. The thrift store and family services were closed all week as they made their way to the new building.

"The new location is our thrift store and our family services, including the food bank," said Community Ministries Co-ordinator Jennifer Lorinczy. "The buildings we were in were tired. There were stairs and there's just a whole bunch of issues. So with the move in our new location, we can serve the public better."

The new building will open today at 10:00 A.M. The Salvation Army is currently operating on a cash-only basis until their debit machine is installed.

To make matters even more exciting, Christmas is right around the corner and that is one of their busiest times.

"We are in full swing Christmas mode," said Jennifer. "We have a number of Christmas programs. We do a Christmas hamper and Adopt-A-Family programs. We are taking applications for Christmas assistance."

Anyone in need of assistance or wanting to help out a family in need this holiday season is asked to contact Jennifer.

On top of that, the Salvation Army will also be kicking off their Christmas Kettle Campaign in the coming weeks.

"Our Christmas Kettle's will be in stores starting November 28th and we are in need of volunteers for two hour shifts."

Plus the CP Holiday Train, which directly benefits the Salvation Army, will be rolling through town on December 16th!

It's a busy time for the Salvation Army and it all kicks off today at 10:00!
