A less than desireable kind of assault on a member of the Weyburn Police Service on the afternoon of May 31st.

"Our officers went down for a apprehension order that had been issued by the psych doctor with respect to one of the individuals that needed some medical assistance at the hospital," explained Police Chief Jamie Blunden. "Our members executed the apprehension order, brought him to the hospital to get to his medical attention, at which time the individual spat and one of our officers face."

Spitting in an officer's face constitutes assault charges.

"He was subsequently charged accordingly with the assault on the officer at the time, and released for a court date down the road."

Blunden added the officer fortunately was wearing both glasses and a mask, so it could have been worse.
