A jail sentence for a Weyburn man in connection to a fatal collision near Moose Jaw in early 2017.

Thirty-four-year-old John Smolinski was given a four-year jail sentence in Moose Jaw Provincial Court Tuesday. The sentence will be followed by a four-year driving prohibition. He is also banned from owning firearms for ten years. He was also ordered to submit his DNA and assessed a $200 victim surcharge.

Smolinski plead guilty to one count of impaired driving causing death.

On February 5th, two pick-up trucks collided on Highway 39, south of Moose Jaw. A 62-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were injured in the collision.
