An exciting summer is underway at Nickle Lake Regional Park, with Movies in the Park beginning this Friday night.

"Bring your own chair, bring a blanket, bring whatever you want to sit on. The canteen will be open for food, and we'll have popcorn and all that stuff as well," said Park Manager Sandra Popescu. "We just ask that you stay in your group."

She said they've also been offering Glow Golf once again, with more developments on that front in the works.

"Last year, it was using glow sticks, and we had light-up balls," she said, noting this year they're working on kicking things up a notch, but they're not going to give away too much just yet about that.

They're also in full swing with "Find-It Fridays" (even if sometimes it's 'Seek It Saturdays"). Read more HERE

Whether it's boating, fishing, kayaking, or just some beach time, a lot of what attracts people to the park also makes them not want to drive home after they've had their fun.

In fact, July is quickly booking up for campsites.

"If you're at all thinking about coming out for any camping, start looking and start booking," encouraged Popescu. "We will have cancellations, but everything is filling up, so if you're thinking about it, pick some days."

Those with smaller children can look forward to the paddling pool opening up again at Nickle Lake for the first time since 2019.

"The pool needed some repairs to be able to open, between that and then COVID and all the restrictions, we just didn't open it, and we spent last year fixing the things that needed to be fixed."

Popescu said they had it completely blasted down, all freshly-painted, and brought up to code.

The water just went in to the paddling pool yesterday, and they're testing it now, in hopes of having it ready to enjoy on Canada Day.

More exciting things are planned for this year's Canada Day celebrations at Nickle Lake as well. The day will also include their usual site-decorating contest, bike-decorating contest and bike parade, free mini golf throughout the day, and the Weyburn Car Club's annual Show 'n' Shine.
