David Cox is on a one-man mission to cross Canada. On a unicycle! Cox started his adventure in Victoria, British Columbia on May 9th and has been continuing his treck since then. He has unicycled nearly 2,000km so far and still has another 6,000 left. He attempted the challenge ten years ago but stopped short in Regina after meeting somebody. He now looks to finish his dream of riding a unicycle from sea to sea. His final stop is scheduled for the end of August in Newfoundland where his parents are currently living.

We asked him what he thought about Weyburn and the Torontonian said "I've had more people stop here and say that what I'm doing is cool and take my photo and shake my hand than most of the places I've ridden through so far," He added he was also able to stock up on all of the things he needed.

Cox stocks up when he runs low on supplies and has to be careful when he purchases supplies because he only has two waterproof bags to store food.

Why the unicycle you ask? "It's a gimmick for attention," because Cox wants to meet people along his journey and the unicycle helps him stick out from the regular tourist crowd. He adds that traffic avoids him on the highways due to the strange mode of transportation.

"If you have a dream youve been sitting on, its time to get to work on that!"

Cox is making a documentary of his long adventure through Canada and encourages as many people as possible to visit his website (link below), as well as visit him on social media. Dave is staying in his tent and has multiple technologies with him to film the documentary including a drone, cameras, and microphones.

David Cox is not yet a household name, but his inspiring message to enjoy life, have fun, and take advantage of the great country of Canada is a story that Weyburnites will be proud to have been a small part of.
