The Midget AA John Hulbert Construction Wings came away from the weekend with four points, after beating the Swift Current Midget Broncos 6-1 Sunday.

The Wings jumped out to an early lead when Todd Johnson was credited with a power-play goal just past the five-minute mark of the first period. Matt Anderson and Ty Stadnick were credited with the assists on the goal.

The Wings then made it 2-0 when Kyler Douglas scored the first of his two goals, with Braden Birnie and Mitch McDonald recording the assists on the tally. The first-period scoring was rounded out in the dying seconds when Kyle Perras scored with seven seconds on the clock. Brogan Schmeltzer and Matt Daunheimer assisted.

The Broncos would get on the board early in the second period when Ryland Hornung beat Jaxon Robertson before the frame was three minutes old. The Wings would get right back into the scoring, though, just moments later.

Douglas scored his second of the game, with Gavin Doud picking up the assist. McDonald would then score a power-play goal with five minutes left in the period, with Douglas and Birnie assisting on the goal.

The Wings would tally once more before the final buzzer. Just before the five-minute mark of the third period, Anderson scored an unassisted shorthanded goal.

In goal, Robertson earned the win, stopping 35 of the 36 shots he faced. He now has a record of 5-3-1 on the season, with a goals-against average of 2.19.

With the victory, with Wings are now sitting at 8-3-2 on the season, with 18 points. They are seven points back of the Regina Rangers for first in the league, with three games in hand. The Wings have the highest goal differential in the league, with 73 goals for on the season, and just 33 against. Offensively, the Wings are lead by Douglas with 25 points. Right behind him is Birnie with 24. Every player on the roster except one has tallied at least one goal this season.

Next action for the Midget AA Wings is Wednesday. They host the Notre Dame Hounds at Crescent Point Place.
