The Bantam AA Whitecap Resources Gold Wings were off for nearly three full weeks, but the time away from game action looks to have helped the squad. They picked up two wins on the weekend, one at home and one on the road, to move up into a tie for second place in the SAAHL South Division.

It started on Saturday in Yorkton, as the Wings paid a visit to the Yorkton Terriers. Weyburn came out firing on all cylinders and picked up a 4-1 victory over the home side.

The Wings opened the scoring in the first period with a power-play goal. Ryker Watt found the back of the net at the 8:35 mark of the opening period. He was assisted on the goal by Dallen Oxelgren and Cooper Walbaum. Weyburn would add to the lead in the second period when Wyatt Godlonton scored with 8:52 remaining in the period. Matt Morhart and Levi Krienke drew the assists on the tally.

Yorkton would eventually find a way to get the puck past Dylan Ernst in the third period. Tylan Henrikson found the back of the net at the 7:15 mark.

Weyburn would quickly reply. Watt scored his second of the game just 43 seconds later. Walbaum drew the lone assist on the goal.

Krienke would then put the game out of reach with 7:39 remaining in the third. The goal was unassisted.

The Wings would be back home on Sunday, playing host to the Regina Pat Blues. Weyburn jumped out to an early lead and held on for the 5-1 in the game.

Again it would be Watt getting the scoring going. His third of the weekend coming before the game was six minutes old. He was assisted on the goal by Noel Englot.

The remainder of the first period would be quiet offensively, but Weyburn would make up for it in the second.

Van Eger scored just 1:49 into the middle period. He was assisted by Quinn Mantei. Weyburn would add to the lead ten minutes later. Daxin Peterson scored an unassisted goal, stretching the lead to 3-0.

Regina got onto the board early in the third period, but it would be the only goal Ernst would allow on the day.

Just before the halfway mark of the third, Ty Boren would push the lead back to three goals. Eger was given the assist on the goal. Ty Mason then rounded out the scoring with 21 seconds left on the clock. Mantei assisted the tally.

The Bantam AA Wings have one game remaining before the Christmas break. They host the Yorkton Bantam Terriers at Crescent Point Place Saturday.
