Last week we checked in with Mayor of Weyburn Marcel Roy to hear his thoughts on the city being named as one of Canada's friendliest small towns. You can read that article HERE.

As the Mayor pointed out Weyburn is far from being considered a town as the population is well over 10,000 people and it currently sits as the 11th largest city in Saskatchewan.

So this week we caught up with the Executive Director for Weyburn Tourism Larry Heggs to get his perspective on the community's latest national recognition.

"I think to anybody that lives here this comes as much of a surprise," said Heggs. "Weyburn's a great place. We've been recognized several times as the top place to live in Canada and western Canada again three years running. So it's just a great community."

Heggs also wears a hat as the Executive Director of the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce and shares his thoughts from the business point of view.

"Our residents are just accepting and the business community is always here to help," Heggs told. "They want to drive the community and make it better and it just shows. We have a beautiful community when you walk around downtown or on the pathways and walkways in Weyburn or into the parks and the pools. It's just fantastic and it's no surprise to me that we were awarded that."

You can find more on Weyburn's beauty and learn why this community has stood out time and time again by visiting the Weyburn Tourism website or by following them on Facebook.
