The Canadian Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centre in Calgary will soon be testing and labelling 650 pairs of eyeglasses coming from Weyburn residents.

Through collection boxes and individual pickup, Dr. Beatrice Adamptey, Nadine Eddy and Kathryn Erickson, working with local businesses, have finished collecting eyeglasses to allow the gift of sight.

The glasses were shipped to the Lions Club in Calgary, where they are tested for prescription strength and are labelled accordingly for the CLERC program.

Collection boxes had been set up at a number of local businesses and medical clinics. In fact, 150 pairs of glasses were collected at the Weyburn eye clinic.

The project was spearheaded by Dr. Beatrice Adamptey with the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Weyburn, who thanks the community for its support with the collection.
