The teams are now set for the WCBL finals. The Regina Red Sox advanced after a 2-0 win over the Swift Current 57s Wednesday night in game three of the Eastern Division finals. They will now take on the Okotoks Dawgs, who got past Lethbridge in the Western Division Finals Tuesday.

Red Sox pitcher Michael Batten went the distance on the mound, striking out batters, and limiting Regina to just four hits all game. Batten has now allowed just two runs in 16 innings of work in the postseason, with opposing teams having a collective batting average of .193.

The pitching staff for the 57s was solid in Wednesday’s game as well.

Tyler Murphy had the start, and went seven innings, striking out eight. The only blemish was the two runs surrendered, one of which was earned. The runs came early in the game, but the 57s weren’t able to get the bats going to pull off the comeback.

The series between Okotoks and Regina will start Thursday night in Regina. Game two is Friday in Okotoks and the third game, if necessary, will be in Regina on Saturday.
