While the students no longer roam the halls of Haig School in Weyburn, someone has been as of late, and the Weyburn Police Service is investigating.

“During the past week or so, Haig School had been entered – most likely on a couple of occasions, if not more,” explained Deputy Police Chief Brent VanDeSype. Those who entered the school are said to have vandalized the facility.

“Some significant damage has occurred inside, so the Weyburn Police Service would like to hear from anyone who may have some knowledge,” added VanDeSype.

Haig School has been vacant since the end of the last school year when the students and staff transferred to Legacy Park Elementary School. Property of the South East Cornerstone Public School Division, it is currently up for sale. There is no word at this time if the property has been sold, or if there are any serious offers.
