The U13 Weyburn Canadian Tire Gold Wings took to the road Friday night, travelling down to Estevan to take on the U13 Bearcats 2 team. The Gold Wings would be powered by a five-goal performance from Annie Button en route to a 10-1 victory.

Button opened the scoring for Weyburn just 1:58 into the game, assisted by Alexis Bauman. That goal was followed up with her second of the night, on the power play, at the 4:11 mark. Lonon Cote had the helper on the goal. Peyton Birnie then added to the lead with an unassisted shorthanded goal with 9:56 left to play in the opening period.

Estevan would reply with their lone goal of the game, as Mya Farr got the puck past Maci Patterson with 5:55 remaining in the first period.

Button continued her offensive outpouring just 3:19 into the second, with Bauman and Cote providing the assists. Then, at the 6:40 mark, Birnie scored her second of the game to make it 5-1 Gold Wings.

Jillian Forseth scored an unassisted goal on the power play with 8:41 to go in the middle period, and Samara Seghers made it 7-1 with a goal assisted by Birnie with 4:34 to play in the period.

In the third, Button showed she wasn’t satisfied with just a hat trick, scoring her fourth of the game just eight seconds in, making it 8-1 Weyburn. Then, with 8:49 remaining in the period, Birnie scored her third of the game, assisted by Seghers, to make it 9-1. Button then rounded out the scoring with a shorthanded goal with 4:56 remaining. Her goal was assisted by Clair Taylor.

The U13 Canadian Tire Gold Wings are now off until next Saturday when they look to remain undefeated as they travel to Radville to take on the Madville Huskies.
