The community came out to help green up the Tatagwa Trail on Saturday, as Tatagwa Tree Day was celebrated along a planned expansion of the trail near The Creeks.

Volunteers came out to plant Black Hills Spruce Trees during the morning.

“It was wonderful, because, within a matter of half an hour or so, we had all 150 of the spruce trees planted, so that was great,” explained Weyburn Mayor Marcel Roy, who was out there planting the trees with the volunteers.

Roy pointed out the volunteers were of all ages, and he was especially excited to see children coming out to help.

“Five years from now, the trees are going to be taller, they’ll be walking along, jogging along, and say I helped plant these. Great community spirit.”
