The calendar says its spring, but take a step outside and you may begin to doubt the season has started.

Environment Canada's John Paul Craig says that the Southeast can expect a warm up starting the second week of April. This will be a welcome relief after a near-record breaking winter.

"It's going to be a slow progression towards warmer temperatures, but looking at the Weyburn down to Estevan area temperatures should get above zero this weekend then drop off again and then mid or early next week start to creep up above that zero mark again," explains Craig.

The coldest day of the year was March 1st, when the mercury averaged 33.2 degrees below Celsius.
