STARS Air Ambulance was dispatched to a fatal and serious injury motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles last night.

Carlyle and Broadview RCMP, as well as emergency services from Wawota and Kipling, were on the scene of the accident, which took place about 30 kilometres north of Carlyle near Kipling, closing Highway 9 for much of the night.

Police said a southbound vehicle appears to have lost control after hitting a snowdrift and struck a northbound vehicle with two occupants. The sole occupant of the southbound vehicle was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the northbound vehicle was transported by ambulance to the Kipling hospital while the passenger was transported to Regina hospital by STARS Air Ambulance.

RCMP Forensic Reconstructionists from Weyburn and Estevan attended the scene and continue to assist with the investigation.
