The week of April 6th to 12th has been declared 'Victims of Crime Awareness Week' in Saskatchewan to coincide with the National Victims of Crime Awareness week.

This years theme is 'taking action', and highlights the important work done to assist victims of crime in the province along with the programs and services available to victims and their families. The week also recognizes the important contribution of volunteers in the success of victim services programs.

The nearly 300 volunteer victim support workers and 125 board members will be recognized for 10, 15 and 20 years of service at a luncheon hosted by Justice Minister Gordon Wyant at the legislative buildings.

There is support in the immediate aftermath of a crime, specialized responses to domestic violence and sexual assault as well as support for children and other vulnerable witnesses who are required to testify in court.
