A park like no other in Weyburn; that's the goal for the Riverwood Outdoor Wellness Committee.

The new group is made up of residents of Riverwood, the development in Weyburn located on the old Souris Valley Mental Hospital grounds.

They are looking to bring a new playground and Fit Park to Weyburn and will be holding their first fundraiser this weekend.

"It's a burger night," said Board Member Sean Purdue. The event will run this Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Browns Socialhouse and will feature beef, chicken or veggie burgers and a side for $5, with all proceeds being put toward the park.

"It's going to be a very different park than anywhere else in Weyburn has," said Purdue. "We're really, really excited to eventually get this for the residents of Weyburn."

Purdue also went on to explain the park and what it has to offer

Advance tickets are available for the burger night and you can find more information on that on their Facebook.

Purdue added that this is just the first of many fundraisers, with a paint night planned for later in the spring.
