Thefts, impaired drivers and mischief were some of the things the Weyburn Police Service had to deal with this past week.

On the 7th a staff member from a local hotel contacted the Weyburn Police Service to report property stolen from one of the hotel rooms, the matter is still under investigation.

During the week, there were a number of complaints of mischief done to parked vehicles.

These acts are under investigation.

Weyburn Police Service attended to 91 calls during the week of October 7-13th.  

During the early hours of Sunday, October 7th, an adult male was lodged in cells at WPS and charged with refusal to provide a breath sample to an officer.  The 21 year old male is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court on Tuesday November 6,2012.
 While on patrol later that morning an officer encountered a male youth passed out and very intoxicated.  Emergency Medical Services attended to the youth who later woke up and was taken home, where he was turned over to a responsible Adult.  
Police responded to a report a loud party complaint. Investigation revealed that the noise was loud and disturbing in the residential area.  As a result the person responsible for the property was charged under the City of Weyburn noise bylaw.

On Tuesday, October 9, 2012 a male attended Weyburn Police Service to being the victim of an assault. The matter is being investigated, with possible charges resulting.
On October 12,2012 The Police responded to a report of  an intoxicated driver leaving a local liquor establishment.  The vehicle was located and stopped and investigation revealed that the intoxicated individual was the passenger and had secured a sober driver. No further action was required.  
 Later that evening, Weyburn Police Service received another report of a possible intoxicated driver.  The driver of that vehicle was located and not impaired. There was however open liquor in vehicle and as a result a male youth who was a passenger in the vehicle was charged with minor possess alcohol.  

As a result of the RID (report impaired drivers) program, police receive and respond to more and more alcohol related driving complaints. The program continues to be successful, in that as a result of those reports a number of impaired drivers are taken off the street. We appreciate the positive action from the public in making our highways safer.
 Police attended the Tag Youth Center to speak with two male youth who had been asked to leave the property and continued to hang around outside.  Boys were warned of their actions and left the area.
Weyburn Police Service members also attended to several alarm calls. The calls are generated from both residential and business properties.   
During the week of October 7-13, police assistance was also required at a number of motor vehicle accidents throughout the city.
