When you have free will, but you don't want to do the right thing, you may have the same consequences anyway.

The Weyburn Police Service charged an impaired driver last week after they refused to blow into the breathalyzer machine.

"This is an instance where there's a traffic stop conducted and the driver had displayed signs of impairment," explained Deputy Chief Brent VanDeSype. "So the breath demand was made on the individual, and it was a lawful demand, but every individual has the right to decide whether they're going to comply or not."

"It's just that in the cases that they choose not to comply, they will ultimately be facing the same punishment or consequences, as if they did comply and were over the legal limit."

The individual was charged accordingly and released for an upcoming court date.
