It's been a year since Covid-19 hit Canada and its impact has been far-reaching. Everything from everyday life to big events and fundraisers have been impacted and an annual tradition is no different.

This year's TeleMiracle is going to look a little bit different than it normally does.

Although it will still be a 20-hour telethon and will still feature National and Saskatchewan talent, the way it's being presented has changed from previous years.

Normally held the first weekend in March, this year's TeleMiracle will run from 9:00 p.m. February 27th to 5:00 p.m. February 28th. It will still feature a National Cast on stage but all Saskatchewan talent will be pre-recorded (that should help with some of the jitters!). There also won't be a live audience.

TeleMiracle is generally a free event to attend but they have several on-site fundraisers throughout the 20-hour event.

Since there won't be a live audience this year, they have decided to raise funds through an online 50/50!

"We're excited to announce the first-ever 50/50 in support of Telemiracle," said Chair Person of Telemiracle 45, Brian Angstadt. "We wanted to try and think outside the box for ways to raise money for the people of Saskatchewan. We all know how much the prairie provinces love their 50/50 raffles, and if anyone wants to get involved, they can go to Telemiracle5050.ca, or if you do go to Telemiracle.com there is a link that will take you to the correct page as well."

TeleMiracle 45 will also feature a number of local performers. Alfredo, Autumn Alexander, Breanna Bjarnason, Maraya Parisien, Onello and Karissa Hoffart are all performing during the main show.

For most of the local performers, it's not their first time on TeleMiracle.

"What I usually do is do a big TeleMiracle fundraiser," said local singer Karissa Hoffart. "My fundraiser is through me, so people can contact me directly, and then I am fundraising that way, just because of Covid and everything."

The Weyburn Kin Club is also working on a fundraiser. They are planning on holding a basket raffle. Tickets for that are $10 each and they will have more information available on their Facebook page.

Regardless of the changes, we are looking forward to another incredible event and we can't wait to RING THOSE PHONES!
