As flurries rolled in early Thursday evening and combined with winds, visibility on highways in the southeast quickly became nearly zero.

A number of highways, particularly in the area of Moose Jaw showed travel not recommended on the highway hotline. Weyburn didn't get the worst of it but still showed drifting snow, blowing snow and reduced visibility.

These conditions lead to a number of accidents on highways. Highway 1 between Moose Jaw and Regina was closed for a period of time due to a multi vehicle collision and pile up. The highway has since reopened but crews quickly had to turn their attention to Highway 6, between Corinne and Regina, which also had a motor vehicle accident. STARS Air Ambulance was called to the scene and police closed that section of highway for roughly two hours.

We will have more on these stories as they become available.
