Weyburn City Council recently approved tenders for six projects for paving and asphalt:

Part 1 – Saskatchewan Drive - repair and recap.

Part 2 – Trails Paving - complete recap of Redcoat Trail Portion

Part 3 – Allen Street - pave street after water main replacement in 2021

Part 4 – 12th Street - repair pavement after water main replacement this summer

Part 5 – Downtown Alleys - repair and recap

Part 6 – Legion Parking Lot - repair and recap.

The City had five proposals submitted for this year’s paving program, and the contract for all six projects was given to Genco Asphalt.

“We did a six-part RFP, and so the companies that were bidding could bid on one or all six parts, which all the companies did bid on all six parts.” Director of Engineering, Jennifer Wilkinson said.

She added that they are still working through the restrictions to areas, traffic plans, and the schedule layout with Genco.

“So, we'll work through that and obviously we will try and keep restrictions to a minimum, but obviously there is going to be some disruption when you have them coming into areas like that.”

These projects are budgeted by the Parks Department, Utilities Department, and Local Improvement Fund.
