Organizations in the Weyburn area have begun submitting applications to receive grant funding in the spring.

The Saskatchewan Lotteries Community Grant Program is open to nonprofit community organizations, to develop sport, culture and recreation programs.

“The grant is provided so that sport, culture and recreation activities can be had for all Saskatchewan people, regardless of age, sex, ethnicity, economic status, physical or mental ability,” Wendy Neiszner, Leisure Services Coordinator with the City of Weyburn said. “The maximum amount is $5,000 per group. You can make applications for more than one project.”

Neiszner said applicants must be delivering a sport, culture, or recreation program, or they will be denied access to funding.

“You can apply for different things to put on your program.”

Applications will be accepted on or before 4:30 p.m. on February 25. The non-profit organizations will receive funding between April 1, 2022 and March 31, 2023.
