The Cymri 4-H Beef Club is hosting a Farm Safety event at the Weyburn Curling Rink on Saturday, March 30 beginning at 9:00am.

"The reason we are doing this is because farming is very rewarding, its important and its an invaluable industry in Saskatchewan. However, for all its benefits - it is also one of the most dangerous industries," says Chantel Rasmuson, the assistant leader of the Cymri 4-H Beef Club, "Participants will cycle through five different presentations regarding different areas of farm safety including animal safety, auger safety, ATV & snowmobile safety, grain safety, and electrical safety."

The afternoon portion of the event will include a key note speaker. "Curtis Weber is going to recount his almost fatal farm accident and provide insight on how the accident happened and how similar incidents can be prevented and why farm safety education is so important", said Rasmuson.

The event is open to the general public, according to Chantel.  "Obviously we are aiming the day at the youth but adults will definitely benefit from it as well. If people stay all day, lunch and snacks will be provided as well."

To end the event, local first responders will be hosting a mock farm accident.

Admission is $10 at the door.
