Weyburn’s Graham DeLaet is preparing for the RBC Heritage Open, which tees off at the Harbour Town golf course in Hilton Head, South Carolina Thursday. The tournament will be the first action for DeLaet since the Puerto Rico Open in March.

DeLaet has had some struggles in his past two tournaments. He missed the cut in the Puerto Rico Open, despite being under par after the first two rounds, and missed the cut the week prior at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Despite the recent troubles, though, DeLaet is having a fairly strong season so far.

Entering the tournament this weekend ranked 62nd in the FedEx Cup rankings, he is in positions to continually challenge every week. So far this season, he has three top 10 finishes, and four top 20. In the rounds where he has had trouble, though, putting has been his main problem.

In all tournaments he has been cut in (three on the season) he has lost over a stroke per hole putting. Rounds where he is in the top ten, he is gaining the stroke. This trend will be something DeLaet is looking to continue when he tees off Thursday morning.

As for his past performances at the RBC Heritage, it is one where DeLaet has both struggled and succeeded in the past. Last year, he finished 14th in the tournament. His two previous appearances, though, in 2015 and 2013, he missed the cut.

The first round at the RBC Heritage opens for DeLaet Thursday morning, when he tees off at 9:50 a.m. Saskatchewan time. He will begin his play on the back nine.
